I am a Stanford and MIT trained engineer with over 7 years of experience in working at the interface of engineering and medicine to develop novel digital and wearable technologies that enable and encourage humans to live healthier lives.
Growing up in Houston, TX, home to the world's largest medical center, I knew from a young age that I wanted to devote my life to improving human health. Naturally I attended DeBakey High School for Health Professions, which allowed me to spend half my days learning health science and shadowing doctors, and I spent summers volunteering at St. Joseph Hospital, the hospital I was born in. While volunteering, I met many chronically ill patients, and I became fascinated with better understanding how we can improve human health. I realized that I was more interested in discovering the future of medicine than in practicing medicine. To collaborate with other leaders in the health technologies space, I trained as an engineer at MIT (Bachelors) and Stanford (Masters and PhD). This enabled me to lead research and develop multiple novel digital and wearable health technologies. There are so many avenues one could travel on to impact medicine, but I think I have found my niche in using biomedical engineering, data science, biomechanics, and controls to monitor and improve human health. I am captivated by the ability of nuanced technological developments to enhance the body's intricate design.
